Self Preservation

When trouble of any sort clouds the day and burdens the heart, first instinct is, of course, self-preservation. Ponder the term for a moment. Literal preservation of self is the prime motivating instinct of humanity. No other instinct is greater; no other is more necessary for human life to exist. Without this basic instinct human life would perish before reproduction could ever commence. Why then at this perilous juncture in time is this instinct not operating within humanity as a whole? Think about it!
