"Love cannot be learned except within the classroom of respect"

If You Know

by

If you know the answer
now is the time to say.
Where is the escape,
which is the way?

How long must we be without,
locked within the tomb of thoughts,
chained to a wall of doubt,
will it ever be new,
is the answer ever true?

Trapped in the quicksand of hate,
broiled by the flames of fate.
Someone once said crooked could never be straight,
lost would never be found, and brutality is humanity's sate?

Standing in the welfare line,
millions of people wonder what to do,
millions more have no clue.

Where is the gate,
where is the truth,
is it within me, is it within you,
is love merely caprice's delegate?

As life fades,
as light becomes shade,
I yearn for hope to perpetuate,
I need to talk with you.

I wrote these words for everyone,
but I cannot reach you.

Can the unseen ever be true?
